The Director, Strategy & Operations is responsible for ensuring the US Organization (USO) is best positioned to deliver on its business objectives by establishing clear strategic priorities, driving execution effectiveness, and spearheading innovation across the organization.
As such, this role has three key areas of focus: 1.) Operations & Excellence, 2.) USO Strategy Development, 3.) New Products Commercialization.
This role will initially be mainly focused on driving Operations & Excellence for the USO, and expand into Strategy Development and New Products Commercialization over time. This role is empowered to optimize how the US Organization operates through the identification and prioritization of key initiatives in the areas of strategy, innovation, processes, systems and tools.
This person will lead through influence, manage cross-functional project teams as necessary, and provide matrixed leadership to the broader US Organization. 1. Operations & Excellence
Responsible for all aspects of USO Governance operations, including US Leadership Team and US Operating Committee
Lead the strategic planning of National Summit and Leaders Meeting for the USO, driving key decisions and ensuring alignment/coordination across all business franchises and groups
Drive optimization and continuous improvement on USO annual strategic planning cycle (including LRP, AOP, ICP) in partnership with CE&O and business franchises.
Collaborate with members of the USLT to find strategic and operational opportunities across the US Org to enhance the US business
Identify the opportunities to improve business practices and processes to maximize resources and achieve operational excellence across the USO
Support key initiatives across the US Organization as an expert consultant to help advise and guide these projects to ensure progress and impact
Develops processes for capturing, cataloging, analyzing and disseminating key lessons to be learned from initiatives, with a view toward helping propagate best practices throughout the enterprise
2. USO Strategy Development
Identify and drive development and implementation of strategic priorities for the US Org through cross-functional efforts
Ensure coordination of strategic initiatives across US Org to leverage synergies, identify interdependencies and avoid duplication of efforts
Support Head of Strategic Operations and Portfolio Innovations and Head of US Org in preparation for Board and EC level business reviews and communications
3. New Products Commercialization
Liaise with Global PDCs and lead new products commercialization for the USO for pipeline and/or Business Development assets
Support and build new products commercialization capabilities in the US, in collaboration with all key functions across the organization
10+ years of experience leading large/complex programs and initiatives
Commercial functional knowledge
Ability to lead and influence in the matrix
Excellent interpersonal skills/highly collaborative
Understands Biogen culture, organizational structure, and processes
Ability to cultivate strong internal/external network
Strong operational skills; project/timeline management capabilities
Effective stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
Pharma Commercial Experience Preferred
Bachelor's degree required; Masters/MBA or advanced educational achievement desired
